We did the homework first

We read what owners say about their software.

337 public reviews and 145 owner forum posts about field service apps, collected October 2026. The bars show how many different people raised each problem. It's a sample of the industry, not a survey, and none of it is about ServiceKodiak.

Price

Big-shop automation. Small-shop price.

The software that runs itself usually costs big-shop money, and the cheap apps save their automations for the top plans. Owners told us they hate paying for features they don't use and hate it more when the price creeps up. So there's one plan with every feature and every automation in it, and founding shops lock their rate.

Automations that already work in the app: an approved quote becomes a job, a finished recurring job books the next one, maintenance agreements create their tune-up visits and invoices and renew on their own every day, member discounts apply themselves to repair invoices, and the time clock starts and stops as the job status changes. Built Review requests and invoice reminders by text go out once texting is switched on. At launch

Straight answers

The questions you'd ask a salesman.

Is there a contract?

No. It's month to month, and you can cancel yourself from settings. If you prepay, you get back the unused months.

Why we're saying it: 30 reviewers in our sample described contracts they couldn't leave.

Switching sounds like a nightmare. Is it?

Paste or upload your customer list and price book from a spreadsheet, and re-running the import won't create duplicates. Early shops also get free help moving over. No paid "implementation" project.

Why: owners call switching "a tall order" and say "the transition is painful".

Will you hold my money?

Payments run through a standard processor. You'll see every payment's status and payout date in the app, and our rules for any hold will be written down in plain English.

Why: payout holds came up from 29 reviewers and 10 forum posters.

Is it too much for a one-truck shop?

It's built for 1 to 15 trucks. A setup checklist ticks itself off as you go, and a morning dashboard shows the day on one screen. One flat price, no per-feature upsells.

Why: many small operators said today's tools are too expensive and too complicated for their size.

What happens when you push an update?

We test updates before they ship, post every change in a public change log, and don't move buttons around for the sake of it.

Why: buggy updates were the second most common complaint.

Does it work with QuickBooks?

Yes, through QuickBooks-friendly exports of invoices, payments, deposits with fees, customers and time. A live QuickBooks Online sync is planned.

Why: QuickBooks sync problems came up in 20 reviews and 21 forum posts.

Is ServiceKodiak available now?

Not yet. The app is built and in private testing. It opens once card payments and texting are switched on. Join the list and we'll email you once when it does.

Early access
